Once you have earned the rank of chunnin you are able to leave you village in order to join the Akatsuki. Once you leave you will become a missing-nin which is same rank as chunnin, Rouge ninja is equivalet to jounin, and the positions of the Akatsuki with names are equivalent to Anbu, except Pein who is equivalent with Sannin, and Madaara who is equivalent with a Kage.
